Results for Immunity Challenge #3

TREE MAIL

"Death By Pong"

The castaways downloaded and playing a game called DX-Ball (similar to "Pong" for the old Atari video game system), a paddle and ball game for one player in which the player breaks bricks for points, but with a twist. Back in the very first Immunity Challenge, Morgan won an advantage in a future Immunity Challenge. They have had this software ever since then! This is the first time the Drake Tribe is getting a chance to play this game!

They could play for as long as they wanted, and then submit their scoreboard files to the host for score verification. Only their first submission would be considered, so they had to make sure they had the highest score possible before they submitted. The tribe with the highest average score will win Immunity.

But this might not be as easy for Morgan as they had hoped! None of the scores they have achieved up to this point will count. That's because all players MUST put "VS7" with their name on the game's high score board for that score to count. The highest score on the board that has the player's name and "VS7" in it will count toward their tribe's average score. If their score does not have THEIR NAME and "VS7" next to it, the score will not count! And if that's their first submission, then their score will be ZERO!

Now for the twist! The Tree Mail mentioned that "protecting your score is priority one." What would a pirate-themed season of Virtual Survivor be without a little plundering and pillaging?!

Hopefully, word about each player's score has NOT gotten to back to the other tribe, because the ONE player who scores the highest in this challenge will get to take HALF of a player's score from the other tribe. Yes, that's right! Half of someone's score will be taken away! And to spice things up, the LOWEST scoring player will also get to take half of someone's score from the other tribe!

NOTE: Only the OVERALL highest and lowest scoring players get to plunder, not the highest and lowest from each tribe!

This twist could actually make the difference between which tribe wins and which tribe loses, especially if both the highest and lowest scorers are on the same tribe! If both the highest and lowest scoring players choose the same person to steal from, then half that player's score goes to the highest scorer, and half of WHAT'S LEFT goes to the lowest scorer. A player who does not submit counts as zero. If a non-submitter is plundered, half of zero is ZERO! The players had to choose wisely, or this twist might not help them at all. In the event of any tie, the player and/or tribe who submitted first wil win.

** Austin was still in a pre-arranged absence, so his score will not affect the Drake Tribe's average.

Sitting Out

So those who submitted in the Drake Tribe unanimously chose to plunder Wendy's score.
Morgan, however, has a bit of a split decision, mostly for Zachary, but some for Jeffrey's score.
Let's see how this will affect the scoring...

So far, it appears that Morgan has won...

But wait! Now for the plundering!

The highest scoring player is Fiers in the Morgan Tribe with a score of 82,302!

Fiers was standing in
line behind Zachary.

Zachary

Half of Zachary's score
will now go to Fiers.

Zachary's current score
is 59,300 points. Half
of that is 29,650.

Fiers' new score
is 111,952 points!

Zachary now only
has 29,650 points.

And now for the plundering from the lowest scoring player!

The lowest score on our scoreboard is zero, and that is shared by four submitting players:

Brentin, Earl, K.J., & Nicolas.

(Mikaela doesn't qualify becuase she did not submit - Austin was exempt)

In the event of a tie, the winner is the player who submitted first.

In this case, Nicolas was the first to submit. Therefore, Nicolas gets to plunder as well.

Nicolas was also standing
in line behind Zachary.

Zachary

What's left of Zachary's
score after being
plundered by Fiers will
now go to Nicolas.

Zachary was left with
29,650 points after being
plundered by Fiers.
Half of that is 14,825.

Nicolas started with a
score of zero, but now
has 14,825 points!

Zachary now also has
only 14,825 points of

his original 59,300.

Results Summary

The plundering only widened the gap between the tribes' scores! Morgan wins by almost 20,000 average points! Congratulations, Morgan Tribe! Still no Tribal Council for you!

Drake Tribe, I don't know what to say... For the 3rd round in a row, you have a date with me tonight at Tribal Council. Head back to camp. I'll notify you when it's time to go...

IMPORTANT UPDATE

After having notified Earl about his scoreboard file being blank, he was able to provide photographs of his computer screen showing his high scores. It is available by clicking here.

This photograph shows Earl's score as 25,330.

If this score had been included, the final outcome would be as follows:

DRAKE TRIBE ~ with Earl's score: 21,547.0

MORGAN TRIBE would still be 36,066.875

Now let's say that Nicolas and Brentin had scores as well, which I do believe they did.

That means that K.J. still has the lowest score of zero (her scoreboard reads fine but she didn't put her name in properly). Then K.J. would have the lowest score and Zachary would still have been plundered.

If the score from K.J. did count, she would be neither highest or lowest, so she would not plunder. Jessie, would then be the lowest and Zachary would STILL be plundered, adding to Morgan's score anyway.

The only unknown scores are Brentin and Nicolas, both on Morgan. If either one ended up highest or lowest, the only outcome is that Drake would still be plundered (either Jeffrey or Zachary).

So although this is not the full results that one would hope for, if you look at the numbers with or without the scores from Earl, Brentin, K.J., and Nicolas, Morgan would win anyway. All of Drake's scores are known, and yet Morgan still has both the highest and the lowest scores even without the scores of 3 of their members. So it would be a Drake member plundered no matter what.

My theory is that is has something to do with Windows Vista versus Windows XP and earlier versions. So far, all the players whose scoreboards wouldn't show up for me were using Windows Vista. It's a good thing for security, I suppose, that Windows won't let you send out a ".dat" file containing any data, but I *think* that's what happened here. I'm so sorry for the confusion...

I hope that this makes sense.
